DRESS CODE AND CLASS ATTIRE/ETIQUETTE:

- For your safety, please do not chew gum in class.

General Modesty Guidelines:

*No spaghetti straps or halters (unless you wear a crop top or shrug over it).

*No midriffs or open back leotards, no sheer (including lace) or deeply scooped leotards (includes back, sides, and/or front).

*Do not wear anything revealing cleavage.

*If shorts are shorter than the knee, tights are required under them (reaching capri length or longer). Gauchos require leotard and tights underneath.

*Please do not wear anything with writing across the rear end. 

*A leotard is absolutely required if partner work is involved, and if you are wearing a skirt for this class, shorts with tights, or else leggings, must be worn under the skirt.

Additional notes:

*Denim is not permitted

*No specific colors are required

*For your safety, please refrain from excessive jewelry

*There are no specific requirements for hairstyle

Dancers are to treat the instructor and fellow students with courtesy and respect.

Ballet, Pointe, Dancin' with Mommy, Creative Movement, Ballet Technique, Pas de Deux, Variations:

Girls:

(Moms do not have any attire requirements for Dancin' with Mommy classes beyond the general modesty guidelines of the studio).

 -Girls are to wear a leotard or unitard and tights.  Dance capris, shorts, or skirts are mandatory (unless you are wearing a unitard).  (Dance pants are also permitted, but be prepared that you may be asked to roll the pants up at the ankle so that the instructor can clearly see your foot placement.  Capris are preferred over pants).  If the class involves partner work, shorts and tights or leggings must be worn under any skirts.

-Girls need pink ballet slippers.  If you are a competition team member, there is a specific brand required – see the Director to learn more.

Boys:

-Pants or long shorts that permit ease of motion (prefer shorts so the instructor can clearly see ankles).

-A shirt that permits instructor to critique posture 

-Boys need black ballet slippers.  If you are a competition team member, there is a specific brand required – see the Director to learn more.

Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Turns and Technique, Irish, Contemporary, Modern, Musical Theatre, Sports Performance, Dancers' Conditioning:​

Same attire guidelines as Ballet

-There is a specific color/style of shoe required for each class.  If you are a competition team member, there is a specific brand required – see the Director to learn more.

Hip Hop:

-Same as above guidelines, except that long pants are not only permitted, but preferred due to floorwork/breakdancing.

-See instructor for shoe requirement.

Additional Notes:  Please do not wear your hip hop sneakers outside of class – no street shoes on the dance floor.

Tumbling:

​

Same as above.  If you are wearing tights, they must be convertible or footless.  No shoes for tumbling class.

Ballroom and English Country Dancing: Please do not wear your dancing shoes outside of dance class (no street shoes on the dance floor).  We recommend shoes with a smooth sole, to permit gliding and spinning with ease. The General Modesty Guidelines must be followed at all times.  If you are in advanced ballroom involving lifts, please see “pas de deux” list for additional requirements.

Pageant Training: The General Modesty Guidelines must be followed at all times.
